Better Sex From Yoga
Found an interesting article touting the benefits of doing yoga on your sex life. Given yoga’s popularity in western culture that has developed in the last decade or so, it really was only a matter of time before someone related it to sex. And I mean that beyond just women in tight-fitting clothing stretching about and toning their bodies. There’s even yoga on the Nintendo Wii now (which is great by the way. If you don’t have it, you should definitely pick it up).
But after reading the article, I can see where the benefits come into play, not just for women, but for men also. One of the key techniques that men can use to postpone their ejaculation is to practice deep breathing. The trick is knowing when to breath deep and when it’s too late, so you might as well just enjoy it. As the article points out, one of the key focuses of yoga is learning to control your breathing and learning to turn your focus to that. So by becoming better and more experienced at this process, you can then apply these same techniques to prolonging intercourse.
And to show that the benefits cross gender lines, it discusses how yoga can benefit women who have difficulty achieving orgasm.
Performing a pose heightens your mental awareness of the individually engaged muscles. For the many women who have difficulty reaching orgasm during intercourse, hip opening and core strengthening poses will assist in recognizing sensations. The slightest adjustment of your pelvic floor may be what you need to climax.
The article tout all kinds of benefits, almost all of which are logical. From the fact that exercise in general improves your sex life, to the fact that doing partner poses involves intimate touching and communication about each others abilities, each of the benefits seem very obvious. It’s just that I’ve never really looked at it form that angle.
Naturally if your man has some issues going with you to such a ‘girly’ class, you can always point out what I mentioned above. To quote the article:
Many classes are made up predominantly of women, guaranteeing a lot of legs, butts, and chests stretching in tight-fitted clothing. Try that as incentive if you want your man to join you at class.
In the meantime, I’m off to fire up some Wii Fit. I need to get busy on mastering these poses.
