A week or so ago we wrote to let you know that K-Y released a new ‘His and Hers’ lubricant called Yours+Mine. It consists of two separate lubes in a single package. And according to the marketing hype, it’s supposed to create a wonderful new sensation.

Well, like all of you, we were notably skeptical. Sounded like snake oil to us. But we gave it a try anyway. And our skepticism was well founded. Turns out there’s nothing new here in this particular lube. To pull back the curtain on all of the hype, what they’ve done is package a warming lube (’His’) with a tingling/cooling lube containing menthol (’Hers’). So you apply both lubes and each of you gets a particular sensation. Then when you begin to have sex, the two intermingle.

However, it didn’t work exactly all that great for us. First off, the tingling lube is WAY strong. So much so that Ash wasn’t entirely sure that it was a pleasant sensation. It got quite cold to her. The warming lube was great to me as it seemed to be considerably warmer than most that I’ve tried. But when the two mixed, the tingling lube totally took over. She couldn’t feel the warming lube at all. I felt the tingling lube pretty quickly and soon that was all that I felt.

So there you have it. No magic potions here. Just clever marketing, and quite a bit of hype. For convenience, it’s nice to have the two types of lube packaged together, but beyond that, there’s no special chemistry in them that is going to give you crazy, off-the-hook sex. You’re just going to have to cook that up with the chemistry between the two of you.
